Christmas 2009

We were so busy enjoying the presence of loved ones in our home over the past few weeks,  that we failed to take as many pictures as we probably should have!  A regret? Yes. Would we do it differently? No. The times shared with our adult children and their young families, as well as with our parents,   were so very precious, whether or not pictures were taken.  We are very thankful that everyone experienced safe travels to and from our place during one of the worst storms Iowa has ever experienced.

Here's Heidi with all the little people that lived at our place for 1 1/2 weeks.

Here's Harper with a smile, at 8 weeks.

Here's Eden, opening a gift from Great-grandma and Great-grandpa, who came for a few days to join the rest of us.

Emma, Claire and Eden learning about cold-blooded animals at the Science Center. Shortly after this picture, they were able to touch a lizard, a turtle over 100 years old, and a snake.

And Claire too. It's amazing what rubbing one's head on Nana and Papa's couch can do!

Levi

Harper and Levi together. As the future unfolds, they will be mere months apart in age.

Although Marley was far away in California with her DeJong family, we felt her presence from afar. Love you, Marley!

We are thankful that everyone had safe travels to Des Moines, and also safe winter travels to Michigan, Ontario, Texas, and Colorado on the way back “home”. Our house feels empty now, and we can truley say that we miss the middle of the night cries from Levi, Harper, or Claire, or whoever else. Even middle of the night cries are precious, even though parents may have a slightly different perspective:)
