We can get them!
Posted in Uncategorized on May 13th, 2008 by vickiPlease note the differences between this picture of our house roof taken just moments ago, and the pictures taken May 9th at 6:14 PM (See “Old Running Shoes” post). The two “righties” are back in our “extra worn out running shoes bin”, along with their corresponding “lefties”. The PREFERRED PEST CONTROL man, Brad, brought the shoes down from our roof today. They were sitting on our front porch when we got home from work tonight, along with a promising note from Brad…..”We can get them!!!!!” In place of the shoes on the roof, he set a trap, with snacks and aromas inside that would attract most racoons. Soooooooooooooooo, we are prepared for a very busy night! If we catch a racoon, we are prepared (if it is at all like last time) for several hours of frantic thrashing noise on the roof just above our bed. Nice thought. Better, however, than the thought of racoons continuing to fart around on our roof for several hours at a time in the middle of the night. Unless, that is, they get scared away by Lloyd, who is getting pretty good at going outdoors in the middle of the night in his underwear, to 1) throw old running shoes at them, 2) shine a flash-light at them, or most lately 3) haul out the hose and spray them with water. So far his tactics have worked. We hear the racoon noise for 10-15 minutes. Lloyd, as a true-blue problem solver gets up in a huff to throw things at them, or scare them with light or sprayed water. And they leave. We have a quiet “rest of the night” (3:00AM ish to 5:00 when our alarm goes off), but are unable to fall back asleep. It’s amazing how many of the worlds problems we are trying to solve during this time with 100% non-success rate. Nice to imagine solving, though. HOPEFULLY, we will catch at least one racoone tonight, and be headed for some needed rest soon.
