Old running shoes

You can use them for mowing the grass, or to work in the garden, or for camping, or for running on icky muddy rainy days. Our garage has been full of old 400 plus mile running shoes (that LOOK like they are perfectly good) for years. They accumulate faster than they can be used. So last night we came up with a new use for old retired running shoes! Here it is: in the middle of the night, when you hear racoons farting around on your roof just above your bedroom, you can go out several time in the night, and throw your old shoes at them! It makes them leave for at least 1/2 hour, so if you’re fairly close to dawn, it’s a pretty good idea. LLoyd discovered this AM, that two of his old shoes got stuck on the roof. They are both “righties” that he used for training in his last two marathons. The corresponding two left shoes are now back where we keep them in the garage. Lloyd also noticed while shining a flashlight in the middle of the night, that the reflector strips in the shoes show up big-time. Very similar to the shiney eyes of the racoon on the roof! We hope tonight is a better sleep.
