Sicko
Posted in Uncategorized on July 4th, 2007 by vickiThis AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY began at the late hour of 0700 , with about 10 of our American running friends for a 5 mile independence day “fun run” in Beaverdale. There was an ORGANIZED 4th of July 5K run in Urbandale today, but most of us decided not to participate. Well, we got our FUN RUN done and had a good time. After that, Lloyd and I spent several hours weeding out “accumulated American stuff” from our home, and made a GOODWILL RUN, along with a Home Depot run and a stop at Fleur Cinema to see Michael Moore’s new film, “Sicko”. (DEFENITELY worth seeing!) This film made us really think about our lives, and about CHILDServe and about EVERYTHING. Oh, and about 4:00PM today, Barak Obama and family were in DSM at Beaverdale Park. DSM is a really cool place after all:) Bill and Hillary Clinton were here recently too.
i like how your 4th was very patriotic in its own liberal, non institutionalized, non industrial way!
This isn’t about Sicko though I might see it after your recommendation. This is to thank you for including Eden in such a special memories club. My hat’s off to you. My scrapbooks are only “good intentions”. We really enjoyed the VanderKwaak tradition of seeing Reuben’s scrapbook on his 25th! How about you coming “up” every May 3rd so we can share Eden and her memories together? Thanks for raising a wonderful son and sharing him with us! It was really SPECIAL to see how your family has enfolded Heidi in your love too! Linda
Linda, glad you enjoyed the Vanderkwaak birthday scrapbook tradition for Reuben’s birthday. We miss it now that our kids are “gone”, but are happily aware, that the tradition continues here and there and everywhere, where our kids live. We are glad that Reuben and Heidi and Eden have such supportive family so close by. Hats off to you and your family for enfolding both of them in your love as well:) We love them from afar, and visit as often as we can, and it is a comfort to know that there is family close by as well!
